Historic Appointment: Mohammad Reza Aref Named First Deputy of Iran’s 14th Government
An hour after the inauguration ceremony of Masoud Mezikian on Sunday, the 7th of August, Iranian media announced the historic appointment of Mohammad Reza Aref as the first deputy of the 14th government. Various media outlets have published the appointment order, highlighting Aref’s significant role. Notably, Mohammad Reza Aref previously served as the first deputy of Mohammad Khatami.
According to a report by Mehr, Ali Tajernia, a member of the steering council of the 14th government, announced on the X social network about Mohammad Reza Aref’s new position. In his tweet, he wrote: “Dr. Mohammad Reza Aref, who served as Khatami’s first deputy, has now been appointed the first deputy of Masoud Mezikian.”
Abdullah Ramzanzadeh also expressed his views on Twitter, stating: “I have known Dr. Aref for many years. He is a realistic, smart politician with reformist thoughts but moderate in practice, possessing the ability to manage conflicts within the government structure. His exceptional memory and good ethics will be instrumental in remembering detailed discussions and managing conflicts in the country.”
