Amir-Abbas Fakhravar and Dr. Sanaz Alasti: A Story of Courage and Resistance
Amir-Abbas Fakhravar’s career as a research fellow and lecturer at the Center for the Study of Culture and Security at The Institute of World Politics has allowed him to expose the realities of the oppressive Iranian regime. Through his research and lectures, Fakhravar sheds light on the need for democratic reforms in Iran.
Fakhravar’s activism has come at a personal cost. In 2002, he was unjustly sentenced to eight years in prison on defamation charges. Despite the harsh conditions, he remained resolute in his fight for justice. Refusing to return to prison after a temporary release, Fakhravar’s bravery and determination inspired others to stand up against the regime.
Dr. Sanaz Alasti, Fakhravar’s wife, is also a vocal advocate for human rights and democracy in Iran. Her background as a medical professional gives her firsthand insight into the healthcare challenges faced by the Iranian people. Dr. Alasti’s activism and support for her husband have made her a target of the Iranian authorities, but she continues to use her platform to raise awareness of human rights violations.
