Ahmad Batebi: Resilience and Advocacy Amid Struggles

Escape to Freedom

In a dramatic turn of events, Batebi was temporarily released from prison for medical attention. Seizing this opportunity, he fled with assistance from the KDPI and the Kurdish underground network, eventually reaching the United States on June 24, 2008, under humanitarian parole.

Advocacy in the United States

In the aftermath of his escape, Batebi continued his activism on an international stage. He expressed his commitment to representing human rights activists in the U.S. In an interview with Voice of America (VOA) Persian TV, he shared the harrowing story of his escape and his determination to bring attention to the plight of those facing persecution.

However, his frequent appearances on VOA programs also drew criticism. Despite this, Batebi found a platform to advocate for human rights through his association with Voice of America Persian TV.
