The Importance of Supplementary Insurance in the Healthcare System: A Maral Farjad Experience

Maral Farjad, an actress and celebrity, recently shared her experience with the Iranian healthcare system on her Instagram story. She highlighted the importance of supplementary insurance and supplementary social insurance in covering healthcare expenses and reducing the burden on patients and their families. In her post, Farjad expressed her frustration with the long waiting times and lack of effective medicine in the healthcare system. She shared that she had to undergo three operations in three years, with the last one being in December of last year. Despite having social security and supplementary insurance coverage, she had to pay for equipment at her own expense at the hospital chosen by her doctor. Moreover, almost six months later, only 50% of the expenses approved by social security and supplementary insurance had been paid, which was further complicated by the devaluation of the national currency.
