Hassan Rouhani’s 1th Norouz Meeting: Navigating Challenges and Pursuing Diplomacy

Hojjat al-Islam held a meeting with Muslim Hassan Rouhani, the former president of Iran, this morning. The party included ministers, cabinet members, governors, and directors from the 11th and 12th governments, representatives from the Islamic Council, various political figures, and journalists.

Hassan Rouhani, born Hassan Fereydoun, is an Iranian Islamist politician, sharia lawyer, academic, former diplomat, and Islamic cleric. He served as Iran’s seventh president from 2013 to 2021. Since 1999, Rouhani has been a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts as well as being part of the Expediency Council and Supreme National Security Council for some years. Being a senior cleric and economic negotiator, Rouhani played a central role in Iran’s politics.Rouhani’s campaign for the presidency in 2013 revolved around healing the economy, improving relations with western nations, and advocating for civil rights. On August 3, 2013, he won elections and assumed office on that day. In 2013, Time magazine featured him among the top 100 most influential people worldwide. During his presidency, he made efforts towards expanding personal liberties, enhancing women’s rights, and improving diplomatic ties with other countries.
