Navy Welcomes Martyr Sayad Shirazi and Martyr Hassan Bagheri, Unveiling First Heavy Destroyers
Introduction
In a historic ceremony held on Bahman 30, the IRGC Navy proudly welcomed the Martyr Sayad Shirazi and Martyr Hassan Bagheri, officially unveiling the first heavy destroyers of the IRGC Navy. These vessels, part of the Shahid Soleimani class, stand as a testament to the domestic expertise of the country’s specialists in naval construction.
Constructed with angular designs for radar evasion, these heavy destroyers boast catamaran or double-hull structures, primarily utilizing aluminum and non-steel alloys. With dimensions of 67 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and a weight of 600 tons, they signify a significant advancement in naval capabilities.
A standout feature of these vessels is their vertically launched defense missiles, including the formidable Nawab and Sayad cruise missiles, boasting an impressive range exceeding 700 kilometers. This capability enhances the IRGC Navy’s strategic reach and defensive prowess.
Equipped with four engines, the Shahid Soleimani-class destroyer accommodates three light missile launchers and an armed combat helicopter. Additionally, decoy rocket launchers are strategically placed to deflect incoming enemy missiles, further fortifying its defensive capabilities.
