9. Singapore: A Model of Personal Safety

Singapore ranks ninth in the global peace index for 2023. A 2018 Gallup report revealed that residents of Singapore reported the highest sense of personal safety and had more positive experiences with law enforcement than residents of any other country. Singapore enforces strict firearms controls and imposes severe penalties for even minor crimes. According to the Safe Cities Index from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), violent crime and physical violence are rare in the city, making it the second safest city in the world.
