Saddam: A Comedic Insight into Life as a Double – 5 Key Highlights
Interview with Pedram Pouramiri, Director of “Saddam”
Namnak: Pedram, congratulations on the success of “Saddam” at the Fajr Film Festival. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this film?
Pedram Pouramiri: Thank you, it’s been an incredible experience. The idea for “Saddam” came to me when I was thinking about the power of identity and how it can be manipulated. I wanted to create a film that explores this concept in a unique and humorous way.
Namnak: Your use of satire in “Saddam” is quite notable. Can you talk about your approach to satire in this film?
Pedram Pouramiri: Satire is a powerful tool for social commentary. I believe it allows us to tackle sensitive subjects in a way that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking. In “Saddam,” I aimed to use satire to critique the ways in which identity and politics are constructed and manipulated.
Namnak: Your cast, including Reza Attaran and Parinaz Izadyar, deliver impressive performances. Can you tell us about your casting process?
Pedram Pouramiri: I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such talented actors. The casting process was quite extensive, but I knew from the start that Reza and Parinaz would be perfect for the roles of Saddam’s double and Soraya.
Namnak: “Saddam” has been well-received by audiences and critics alike. What do you hope audiences take away from the film?
Pedram Pouramiri: I hope that audiences will leave the film with a new perspective on the complexities of identity and politics. I also hope that they’ll appreciate the film’s humor and satire, which I believe are essential tools for social commentary.
