6 Powerful Reasons to Support Massoud Pezeshkian for the 2024 Presidential Election

Masoud Pezeshkian, born on September 29, 1954, is an Iranian reformist politician who currently represents the Tabriz, Osku, and Azarshahr electoral district in the Parliament of Iran. He served as its First Deputy Speaker from May 29, 2016, to May 26, 2020. Notably, Pezeshkian held the position of Minister of Health from 2001 to 2005 in President Mohammad Khatami’s cabinet.

Career-wise, Pezeshkian has a rich background. He served as the chancellor of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences for seven years and is a distinguished cardiac surgeon and academic member at the same institution. Pezeshkian entered the Iranian Parliament after winning a seat in the 2008 elections. His vocal condemnation of violence surrounding alleged electoral fraud in the Iranian presidential election on June 30, 2009, showcased his commitment to transparency and democratic principles.

In 2010, Pezeshkian made a bid for the position of deputy speaker of parliament, which unfortunately was unsuccessful. He is also noted as a member of the Iran-Turkey Friendship Society, reflecting his engagement in diplomatic and international relations.

In terms of his political aspirations, Pezeshkian’s approval as a candidate in Iran’s 2024 snap presidential elections following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi marks a significant development in his career trajectory.
