13. Inspirations Behind His Art

Kimiai’s inspirations are as diverse as his mediums. As a filmmaker, he was deeply influenced by Italian neorealism and American film noir, borrowing techniques from these genres to craft his own unique style. In painting, however, his inspirations are less about specific movements and more about the raw human experience.

The “Living Bodies” series draws from themes of vitality, conflict, and the passage of time. The human form takes center stage in his works, often distorted or abstracted to represent the internal struggles and resilience of the individual. These themes align with the moral complexities explored in his films, showcasing a continuity of thought and creativity.
