Peerage and Political Involvement
In 2004, David Alliance was elevated to the House of Lords as Baron Alliance of Manchester. As a Liberal Democrat peer, he contributed to public policy debates, trade, industry, and Jewish community issues.
Philanthropic Contributions and Community Engagement
Alliance was instrumental in rescuing Ethiopian Jews during the 1980s and 1990s, orchestrating efforts to bring thousands to Israel. He supported Jewish educational initiatives, including Tel Aviv University, and funded various charitable projects.
Contributions to Israeli and Jewish Causes
His dedication to Jewish causes extended to supporting Jewish culture, education, and refugee aid. The Iranian Studies Centre at Tel Aviv University was established in his honor in 2012.
