In 2004, David Alliance was elevated to the House of Lords as Baron Alliance of Manchester. As a Liberal Democrat peer, he contributed to public policy debates, trade, industry, and Jewish community issues.

His dedication to Jewish causes extended to supporting Jewish culture, education, and refugee aid. The Iranian Studies Centre at Tel Aviv University was established in his honor in 2012.
