Who Was Ayatollah Ali Khamenei?

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei served as the Supreme Leader of Iran for more than three decades and was one of the most influential figures in Middle Eastern politics.

He became Iran’s Supreme Leader in 1989, following the death of Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.
